- Unless you try, you will never succeed. = If you don't try, you will never succeed.
- 主将从现：unless 引导的从句用一般现在时，主句用将来时。
② as soon as（一……就……）
- As soon as the Monkey King heard the news, he rode off on a cloud.（同样遵循"主将从现"：I'll call you as soon as I get home.）
③ so... that（如此……以至于）
- The stick was so big that he couldn't carry it.（棒子太大了，他扛不动。）
- so + 形容词/副词 + that 从句；口语替换：The stick was too big to carry.
④ 讲故事的时态基调：叙述传说通常用一般过去时：Once upon a time, there was... / He tried to... / They kept working.

Once upon a time, there was an old man called Yu Gong. Two big mountains were in the way, so it took a long time to go to the other side. Yu Gong told his family that they should move the mountains, and as soon as they agreed, everyone began to dig with baskets and tools. A man called Zhi Sou laughed at them. "You are so old and weak that you can never move the mountains!" he said. But Yu Gong replied, "Unless the mountains grow bigger, we can finish one day. After I die, my sons will continue, and then their sons." Finally, a god was so moved that he sent two other gods to take the mountains away.
